Five face murder charge for attack on PM's aide

KATHMANDU, May 21: The government on Thursday filed a murder case in the Kathmandu District Court against five people who allegedly attacked the Prime Minister´s aide Shakti Bahadur Basnet in February. In the chargesheet they have been accused of making assassination attempt on Basnet.



The accused in the case are Narinta Kumari Shah and her husband Sahadev Jung Shah of Karkado VDC-7 in Banke; Ram Bahadur BC of Mainatada VDC-5 in Surkhet, Komal Raj Singh Thakuri of Sitapur-7 in Banke and Ram Kumar Acharya of Tatopani VDC-5 in Surkhet.



In the meantime, the court started recording statements from the accused before a single bench of Judge Udaya Prakash Chapagain.



A group of assailants had opened fire on Basnet when he was getting off his vehicle near his residence in Lalitpur. He was hit in the thigh.
