The fire that started at 8:10 p.m. engulfed the house belonging to Ashok Rana, police said. No one is injured.
Six fire brigades from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nepal Army and Nepal Police had battled to douse the fire till late night.
It is still unclear as to what caused the fire in the building also known as Lal Durbar.
