KATHMANDU, Feb 2: House of Music, supported by the United States Embassy, is geared up to host February as the Black History Month with various music events along with documentary shows, dances and poetry recitals.

It starts from Friday, February 3 to February 25 at different locations in and around Kathmandu.[break]

Due to globalization, African American music has been ruling the popular culture. Nepali youths as well as the older generations are fond of western genres of music, such as Blues, Jazz, Motown, R&B and Hip-Hop.

In this context, House of Music will be conducting music workshops with senior local musicians, documentary shows hosted by Sattya Media Arts – “Soul Power” and “Black Power” Mixtape – concerts and a digital video conference with Will Schwartz, founder of the San Francisco-based R&B band “hey willpower.”

Nirjan Rai, one of the organizing members, informs, “All the events will be narratives of the stories of music as each of them has a tale behind its origin, including people and their expressions.

Tickets are available at House of Music and Moksh Live.
