Ex-pm Shrestha's health deteriorating

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: The health condition of former Prime Minister Marichman Singh Shrestha is deteriorating, according to Norvic Hospital, Thapathali.



Shrestha was taken to Medant Hospital of India due to lung cancer some three months ago, and brought back to Kathmandu last night and admitted to Norvic Hospital.[break]



Media coordinator at the Hospital, RP Mainali, said the health condition of former Prime Minister Shrestha was very critical; he is provided ventilator support and given medicine to alleviate pain. Mr Singh was battling the full stage of cancer, said Mainali quoting doctors as saying.



Doctors Professor Ramesh Chokhani and Prakash Raj Neupane are involved in Singh´s treatment.



The government has provided Rs 500,000 monetary assistance for his treatment.
