Ex-IGP Rana summoned over Sudan scam

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: The sub committee formed under the State Affairs Committee of parliament on Thursday summoned former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Om Bikram Rana to record his statement on the alleged irregularities in the logistics supplied to the Nepal Police´s peace keeping mission in Darfur, Sudan.



According to Pradip Gyawali, coordinator of the sub-committee, Rana will appear before the sub-committee on November 10.



Earlier, the sub committee had summoned incumbent IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri and other police officials to record their statements. The sub-committee decided to summon Rana as he was the chief of the police when the mission was deployed in the conflict ravaged African country.
