KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Armed Police Force (APF) Gyanendra Raj Rai has lamented that both police and media have indulged in his ´character assassination´ by disseminating ambiguous information about the use of his house allegedly by the murderers of media entrepreneur Jamim Shah.

"Both police and media contributed to make it seem as though I was directly involved in planning the incident," he told the media on Tuesday. "I and my whole family were quite unaware of anything related to the case and dealt with those tenants as with everybody else who rented our house before."

Rai also said he fully cooperated with the police in investigation. According to him, one claiming to be Deepak Shahi, who is allegedly the mastermind of the murder, had rented his house in Baneshwar for about a month. "He said the floor would be used for the purpose of accommodating his herbal business aides," Rai added.
