Event managing is a part of project management that involves the creation and management of parties, festivals and conferences.
Event management is partially thought management degrees; however, independent degrees specifically for event management have also been established.
“Event management may sound simple and easy but it’s totally different,” says Shree Gurung, Director at PartyNepal.
“The main skill that students of event management need to have is managerial skills because it all boils down to how well you organize and manage your team.
Organizing an event is never an individual’s work, it always happens in a team and the event manager needs to be dynamic enough and liberal enough to work in a team,” he adds.
Event Management degrees are not offered in Nepal but is taught under the umbrella of many management degrees.
Online degrees are offered by University of Massachusetts, Thompson Rivers University and George Washington University amongst others.
India also offers comprehensive degrees on Event Management at various National Institute of Event Management (NIEM) centers all across India.
