KATHMANDU, May 8: The Heads of mission of the European Union, as well as the Ambassadors of Norway, Switzerland and the United States of America, have welcomed the decision of the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist to postpone the indefinite general strike.

Issuing a press statement on Saturday, they hoped this will prove to be a decisive step in the pursuit of a solution to the protracted political deadlock. They have also urged all political parties to make renewed efforts to negotiate in good faith and make the necessary concessions to bring about a successful conclusion to the present crisis to the mutual benefit of all, through the statement.

Except for the US and India, none of the ambassadors and diplomats had asked the Maoists to call of their strike which had gone on for six days severely hampering life of the people.
