The foreign envoys also visited the Maoist army cantonment at Chulachuli in Ilam district later the same day.
Ambassadors and charges d´affaires of China, France, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States took part in the visits.
This was their first collective visit since the establishment of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) in January 2007.
They reviewed how UNMIN conducts the monitoring of weapons stored in containers by the NA at Chhauni barracks and by the Maoist army at the main cantonment site at Chulachuli, UNMIN said.
"The presence of weapons containers and arms monitors reflects the unfinished business of the peace process, and UNMIN calls on the parties to make strengthened and sincere efforts to create the conditions for UNMIN to complete its work and for Nepal´s peace process to usher in a stable, just and prosperous future for its people," it said.
The visit enabled the ambassadors to evaluate progress on implementation of the peace agreements, including the process of integration and rehabilitation of Maoist army personnel, in advance of the Security Council´s mid-term discussion of UNMIN´s mandate on 6 November, said the British embassy in a statement. "The ambassadors welcomed progress made in preparing for the discharge of disqualified Maoist army personnel, including minors, and urged immediate follow-up action," the embassy said, adding, "They also welcomed the reformation, and resumption of work, of the Special and Technical Committees."
The government officially resumed the process of discharge and rehabilitation of disqualified Maoist combatants from the Maoist second division cantonments at Dudhauli, Sindhuli earlier this month.
The ambassadors reiterated the deep concern of the Security Council to see renewed and sustained efforts to create a unified approach among Nepal´s political parties in the spirit of the peace agreements, and for the government of Nepal to publish the action plan it offered to the Security Council at the last UNMIN renewal, and begin the process of discharge, integration and rehabilitation of Maoist army personnel so that conditions are created for the completion of outstanding aspects of UNMIN´s mandate by 23 January 2010.
