Afflicted with chronic diabetes and kidney related problem, Dr Chalise breathed his last while being treated at Nepal Medical College, Attarkhel, Kathmandu this morning.
His last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today. Born in Bouddha Simaltar in 2008 BS, he had discharged several responsibilities in the National Planning Commission, Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Local Development.
Chalise had also served the Nepal Banijya Bank as the chairperson and Nepal Electricity Authority as the executive director. He is recognized as a champion of liberal economy in Nepal. Chalise is also considered to be the most successful executive chief of the NEA so far for executing the reforms agendas.
He was a person with high morale and integrity and had professed clear view with action that the private sector should be given impetus for economic prosperity.
He was felicitated as the Asia Liberty Champion at the Asia Liberty Forum last year.
He is survived by a wife and four sons.
High-placed government officials including Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal had reached Pashupati Aryaghat to pay final tribute to Chalise. RSS
