EC top officials on Wednesday discussed the upcoming CA election with leaders of UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF), MPRF-Democratic and Federal Socialist Party (FSP)-led by Ashok Rai. [break]
According to EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai, the meeting dwelt on the role of political parties in creating an environment conducive to election. EC officials and political leaders also discussed the timeline endorsed by the constitutional body.
EC on Tuesday had endorsed a six-month timeline to conduct the CA polls.
“Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety stressed the need for positive and supportive role of all political parties in order to conduct free, fair and credible CA election,” reads a statement issued by the EC after the meeting with political parties.
Uprety also briefed leaders of six political parties about the preparations being made by the EC for the polls.
