Forty three-year-old Pradeshi Tharu of Naulapur, Bardiya district who was repairing the backlight of his truck parked on the roadside was critically injured as another truck rammed into his truck. He died on the way to hospital.
The driver of the truck that hit the stationary truck is absconding, said police. The accident took place on Monday night.
Meanwhile, three people were seriously injured in another collision involving two trucks at Chainpur VDC in Chitwan district on Tuesday morning. The accident happened on the East-West highway.
Six buffaloes being taken to Kathmandu were also killed in the accident. The truck transporting buffaloes which was heading towards Kathmandu from Birgunj collided with another stationary truck.
Those injured in the accident are the truck driver, 34-year-old Krishna Chaudhari of Thakurdwara, Bardiya, the buffalo trader 20-year-old Mohammad Matiula of Rautahat and the assistant driver 26-year-old Jagat Bal of Manahari, Makwanpur. They are being treated at the College of Medical Sciences Hospital, Bharatpur.
