Don’t intervene protest programs: Thakur warns govt

RAJBIRAJ, March 28: Chairman of Terai Madhes Democratic Party Mahanta Thakur on Saturday warned of dire consequences if the government intervened their upcoming 'peaceful protest programs'.

Speaking at an interaction program with reporters at Rajbiraj today, Thakur said that the protest programs were for change and to ensure the rights of the people. "The government will be responsible for the consequences if it intervenes," he added.He also said that everyone has to speak up against the President's 'misdeeds' as he is reluctant to implement past agreements.

The chairman stressed promulgation of the new constitution based on past agreements.

Responding to the home ministry's warning on staging demonstrations with bamboo staves, Thakur said bamboo staves were part of Madhesi daily chores.
