KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The Department of Electricity Development (DoED) has granted construction permission to a total of 10 hydropower projects in the first quarter of the current Fiscal Year (FY). The combined capacity of these projects is 241.50 MW.
So far, the department has issued construction permits to 266 projects, with a total capacity of 10,825 MW, according to the department’s data.

By the mid-October this FY, the department has granted construction permission to the following projects: Lapa Khola (4.72 MW), Lower Barun (132 MW), Myagdi Khola B (12.50 MW), Lower Likhu Cascade (6 MW), Upper Melamchi (4.95 MW), Super Sabha Khola (9.55 MW), Lower Melamchi Khola (4.96 MW), Upper Seti I (13 MW), Hongu Khola (28.90 MW), and Induwa Khola (24.92 MW).
Additionally, the DoED has granted survey permission to 185 projects to date. A total of 59 projects have applied for construction permission, with a combined capacity of 10,532 MW.
In the solar sector, 12 projects have received construction permits, totaling 84 MW of capacity. Three solar projects have applied for construction permission, with a combined capacity of 15 MW.
The DoED also stated that construction permits for 15 projects, which had received permission but had not progressed, have been revoked. Applications of 11 projects that applied for construction permission but did not complete the required process have also been canceled. Similarly, survey permits for 118 projects have been revoked.
