Doctor nabbed while stealing necklace

NEPALGUNJ, June 9: At a time when cases of robbery are on the rise in Banke, police here have arrested Dr Ritesh Singh Tharu, who is doing his internship at Bheri Zonal Hospital, for stealing a woman´s necklace.

According to Banke Police Chief Mingmar Lama, Ritesh was running away after snatching a gold necklace from Gitanjali Sapkota, who was traveling on a rickshaw near the District Eduction Office. Police in civvies had chased and arrested Ritesh with the necklace. Police said Ritesh could have been involved in other stealing cases in Nepalgunj.

An MBBS graduate from China, Ritesh is currently an intern at the Bheri Zonal Hospital for the past four months.

Police said Ritesh could also be into drugs as they had recovered brown sugar from him along with the necklace.

Meanwhile, Banke police have also arrested Nikhil Magar of Bardiya, Suraj Singh of Nepalgunj-13 and Mohammed Rahman of Lucknow, India on charges of theft and abduction.
