The relatives of the patient undergoing treatment at the Hospital had manhandled Dr Sharad Chandra Baral and Shankar Poudel accusing them of negligence in the treatment of one Mani Raj Sharma, 43. [break]
They claim that the oxygen cylinder supplied to Sharma was empty.
Doctors and employees at the Hospital have brought all services to a halt demanding that those involved in manhandling the doctors be punished. They have also demanded apology from those involved in the incident.
Some 500 patients visiting the hospital daily for Out Patient Department (OPD) services are forced to return without treatment due to the closure of the hospital.
Speaking at a press meet organized by the hospital authorities Friday, Dr Yuvraj Sedhain said they were forced to shut down the services due to insecurity. “How can a doctor treat a patient when he is insecure himself?” he questioned.
Meanwhile, five persons including Ramu Subedi, Krishna Bhattarai, Bodhraj Sharma, Prem Subedi and Basu Dev Subedi have been arrested on the charge of their involvement in the incident. Police have initiated legal action against those arrested, according to Kaski District Police Chief Pushkar Karki.
