KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Nepal Police Headquarters has told the Supreme Court in writing that journalist Rishi Dhamala has been detained as per the law and asked the court to quash the habeas corpus petition seeking Dhamala’s release.

In a letter to the Supreme Court Tuesday police said Dhamala has been detained for investigation as per the order of the Kathmandu District Administration.

Police Headquarters sent the reply to the court in response to a show cause notice issued by the Supreme Court last week.

In the meantime, the Home Ministry has yet to reply to the court´s show cause notice.
