CHITWAN, Feb 15: Three of the 40 people injured in a pilgrim bus accident in Kurintar of Chitwan died in hospitals.
Rameshwar Neupane, 21, of Thansing, Nuwakot district died in Damauli Hospital, Bibek Lama, 18, of Kalikasthan and nine-year-old Krishna Tamang of Bhadrapur, Nuwakot died in different hospitals while undergoing treatment.
The pilgrims were returning to Nuwakot after visiting Manakamana Temple in Gorkha district.
According to police, condition of 11 other injured passengers is reported to be critical. Altogether 52 people were traveling in the bus (Na 3 Kha 2501).
Other injured are undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital, Medical College in Chitwan and in Kurintar, police said.
Eyewitnesses said the uncontrolled bus hit a rock face due to the driver´s "carelessness".
The woman who was killed when the gas engine of the Maruti van (Ba 5 Cha 8582) she was traveling on has been identified as Man Kumari Adhikari, 80, of Satdobato, Lalitpur. The van was traveling from Kathmandu to Narayanghat when the engine caught fire all of a sudden at Fisling of Darechowk, Chitwan. Six others who were injured have been taken to Kathmandu after preliminary treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.
Likewise, a student of Motherland Boarding School, Smriti Pradhan, 10, died in another accident when her school bus met with an accident at Khairahani, Chitwan.
