The irate groups said that they have resorted to protests after the government paid no heed to their demands.

The displaced families had also blocked a bridge connecting the border between Nepal and India for almost two hours before they headed to the district headquarters where they padlocked the government offices including District Election Office, Darchula.

Even three months after we were rendered homeless by the flood, the government has not provided us with due compensation, except 37,000 rupees, few kilos of rice and pulses, a victim had said.

The June -17 flood had destroyed as many as 48 concrete houses including government-owned buildings, and displaced scores in Darchula.
