The houses of Meti Bote, Jange Bote, Kanchha Bote, Budhram Bote and local businessman Santa Bahadur Tamang have been swept away by the floods.
The floods also swept away the two-decade old dam constructed across the Rapti river as the old wires failed to support it, said the locals. They have urged the concerned stake holders to adopt a new measure immediately to control the flood.
According to the District Natural Disaster Relief Committee, the locals have taken their cattle and belongings to safer places.
Similarly, the water level at Belhatta in Jagatpur VDC is rising and the river has eroded more than five bighas of land.
In Nawalparasi, most of the villages located near the Nepal-India border have faced a risk of inundation due to increasing water level in the Narayani River. The number 12 afflux bund over the Narayani River at Thokar has been completely damaged and the river has washed away sugarcane field and some tract of land there.
Similarly, the bund at Kudiya VDC-5 has also been damaged, said Prem Chand Gupta, conveyor of the local struggle committee of the people affected by the Narayani dam.
Triveni, Susta, Rampur Khadauna, Kudiya, Narsahi, Paklihawa, Bhujahawa, Guthi Prsauni, Guthi Suryapura, Bedauli, Thulo Khairatawa are facing the risk of large-scale inundation caused by the Gandak dam constructed as per the Nepal-India Gandak Agreement and the irrigation canals built inside Nepal by India.
In Dang floods have obstructed vehicular movement. Lamahi-Ghorahi, Ghorahi-Tulsipur including Dang-Surkhet road sections have been obstructed due to the floods caused by local rivers in the district, said District Police Office, Dang.
Due to heavy rainfalls, office of the Area Police, Narayanpur has been inundated.
In Parbat the Maldhunga-Beni Bazaar section of the highway remains blocked since Thursday due to the landslide triggered by incessant rains. A huge landslide has blocked the highway at Tinbari Beni, Majhphant VDC. Buses plying along short and long routes between Beni and Jomsom have been stranded at Milanchok, Manjhphant.
