Dahal will meet India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Shivshankar Menon this afternoon. This meeting is deemed highly significant given the security concerns of India with Nepal.[break]
The NSA of India is the Chief Executive of the National Security Council (NSC), and the primary advisor to the Indian prime minister, the cabinet and the NSC on internal and international security issues.
It is the NSA to whom the Indian intelligence agencies like the RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) and the IB (Intelligence Bureau) report rather than directly to the prime minister.
Due to such vested powers, NSA is one of the most prominent and powerful offices in Indian foreign policy domain. Dahal will also be holding parleys with leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj and Janata Dal (United) President Sarad Yadav.
He is also set to meet Rajya Sabha member and general secretary of Nationalist Congress Party, D P Triparthi, later in the evening.
