The curfew order was deactivated from 6:00 am today following some improvement in the security situation in the area, according to Chief District Officer Dr Man Bahadur BK.
The local administration had issued a curfew order in the territory from last Thursday following a clash between the agitating cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front and the security personnel last Wednesday.
However, the announcement of riot-hit and prohibited area in a perimeter of 500 meters ( left and right) from the Lahan-based Balan River to the Kamala River bridge and a branch route from new Choharwa to Lachka Bridge are still in effect.
Meanwhile, the normal life of the district has been adversely affected due to an indefinite agitation imposed jointly by the UDMF and Tharu Struggle Committee. All long and short-route vehicles to and from the district have remained off the road and market places, industries, factories and academic institutes have been closed.
