KATHMANDU, June 26: Local administration in Lalitpur has clamped curfew in the Chapagaun area effective from 6:30 p.m. Friday till 4 a.m. Saturday, said SP Kedar Man Singh Bhandari, chief of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Lalitpur.
The area has been tense since Friday morning due to sporadic clashes between the locals and the police over the issue of escape of two alleged child kidnappers from police custody. [break]
Bhandari said that the curfew was imposed to control the tense situation in the area.
A spate of kidnappings has been reported from various parts of the country. The most recent, and infamous, was the abduction and gruesome murder of Khyati Shrestha in the capital.
On Thursday, two unidentified people abducted Shuva Pratap Rana, son of industrialist Pratap Rana of Tikapur-3 in Kailali district.
