BUTWAL, April 28: The Kapilvastu district administration office has imposed curfew in Gorusinge and in places around the highway in Kapilvastu from 6 p.m. on Tuesday to 5 a.m. on Wednesday amid tensions due to Tharu strike. Administrative officer at DAO Puran Giri said the curfew would be effective from Taulihawa Chowk in Gorusinge to Bela river in Chandrautra and areas around the East-West Highway.
According to Giri, Tharu activists clashed with the police in two places on Tuesday. Five persons including police inspector at Gorusinge Chura Bahadur Karki were injured in the clash. Police had fired few rounds of tear gas shells and fires in the air to contain the situation.
The DAO said the Tharu activists torched a motorcycle and smashed windowpanes of several vehicles during clashes at Barkalpur and 54 Kilo areas.
