Communist leader Pushpalal remembered

KATHMANDU, July 22: The Sarbahara Kosh Nepal on Monday honored writers, artists and leaders of the civil society on the occasion of the 35th Memorial Day of the founder general secretary of Nepal Communist Party Pushpalal Shrestha.



On the occasion, singers JB Tuhure, Khushiram Pakhrin, Ram Krishna Duwal, Jiban Sharma, satirist Manoj Gajurel and writer Hari Govinda Luintel were honored.

Likewise, Prof Dr Gopal Krishna Siwakoti, Dr Niranjan Adhikari, Dr Madhav Panthi and Dr Ram Kumar Pokhrel were honored for their dissertations on Nepal´s communist movements. [break]



On the occasion, a 45-minute long documentary on Nepal´s communist movement was also screened.



The documentary includes establishment of Communist Party of Nepal, splits in Nepal´s communist movements and other major events.



UCPN (Maoist) central member Krishna KC has directed the documentary.



Pushpalal was born on Asar 15, 1981 B.S at Bhangeri in Ramechhan district. He died in New Delhi of India on Sawan 7, 3035 BS while undergoing treatment.



Pushpalal had established the communist party of Nepal in Calcutta of India in 2006 B.S.



Meanwhile, CPN (Marxist) organized a gathering in memory of Pushpalal in the capital today.



On the occasion, leaders paid floral tribute to the founder general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal and hailed his contribution to Nepal political spheres.
