CM Singh declares 12 hospitals operating illegally

JANAKPURDHAM, March 2: The Madhesh Province government has taken active steps to improve private hospitals' service quality and legal compliance.

As part of this effort, Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh led a team to inspect private hospitals in Chandrapur, Rautahat, and Hariwan, Sarlahi. The inspection revealed that 12 out of 13 hospitals were operating without authorization.

Officials found that these hospitals lacked service operation permits during the inspection on Saturday evening.

Chief Minister Singh ordered the immediate closure of these illegally operating hospitals. The inspection team included Provincial Minister of Health and Population Shatrudhan Prasad Singh and other officials.

Rajesh Mishra, Acting Secretary of the Provincial Ministry of Health and Population, stated that only "Chandrapur Hospital Pvt. Ltd." in Chandrapur has obtained legal permission to operate. The hospital must provide salary details for its doctors and staff, including taxes.

The authorities have ordered the closure of the following hospitals operating without permission in Chandrapur, Rautahat, and Hariwan, Sarlahi: Highway Trauma Hospital and Research Center, Civil Human Hospital and Research Center Pvt. Ltd., Public Life Care Polyclinic, Chapur City Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Himalayan Polyclinic, SIMS Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Chandrapur Orthopedic and General Hospital, Chandrapur Eye and Dental Treatment Centre, Chandrapur Community Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Model Orthopedic and General Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Dayanti Hospital Pvt. Ltd. in Harion, Sarlahi, and Sarlahi Jeevan Health Care Pvt. Ltd.

Chief Minister Singh stated that hospitals operating without meeting the standards set by the federal, provincial, and local governments are endangering patients' health.

He said, "Hospitals operating without meeting standards have failed to manage necessary infrastructure, medical equipment, and skilled manpower, which has led to a decline in treatment quality and put patients' lives at risk."

Earlier, Chief Minister Singh inspected private hospitals in places like the provincial capital, Janakpur, and Birgunj. The provincial government has announced that it will take strict action against institutions that violate hospital service standards.
