Chinese envoy calls on Dahal

KATHMANDU, June 29: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan called on UCPN (Maoist) Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter’s residence in Nayabazar, in the capital on Wednesday morning.



At the meeting, Ambassador Houlan asked for the Maoists’ continued support to the one-China policy and restated that China would not interfere and let others interfere in Nepal’s internal affairs, informed party Vice Chairman Naraykaji Shrestha after the meeting. [break]



In reply, Dahal said his party would continue to stick to the one-China policy and assured the Chinese ambassador that Maoists are opposed to any use of Nepali soil against China, informed Shrestha, who was also present in the meeting.



During the meeting, the two are also said to have discussed a range of issues including economic cooperation between he two countries and the ongoing peace and constitution drafting processes of Nepal.
