KATHMANDU, April 16: Four defeated candidates in the recently held Constituent Assembly by-election in Dhanusha-5 have filed a writ petition in the CA court demanding nullification of the result. [break]
First runner up in the polls, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party candidate Srikrishna Yadav, Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandidevi) candidate Govinda Yadav, Unified CPN (Maoist) candidate Mahadev Yadav and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum candidate Siya Ram Yadav knocked the doors of CA Court to nullify the polls claiming that CPN-UML candidate Raghubir Mahaseth rigged the polls in a number of polling stations.
They claimed that the polls were not free and fair in Mithileshwor Mouwahi, Tarapatti, Gopalpur, Bogatol, Shivapur and Mansinghpatti polling stations.
They have made Mahaseth and Chief Election Officer’s office as defendants in the case. “We had requested the Chief Election Officer’s office to take appropriate measures to stop the polls from being rigged in the above mentioned polling stations,” said the complainants in the petition. “But local administration did not pay attention to it.”
They claimed that CPN-UML used its youth wing, Youth Force, to send genuine voters out of the polling centers and cast votes for others.
The CA court comprises justices Anup Raj Sharma, Ram Kumar Prasad Sah and Tap Bahadur Magar.
