Capital sees three bird flu outbreaks

KATHMANDU, July 26: A total of three bird flu outbreaks have been confirmed in Kathmandu Valley.



According to Bola Raj Acharya, Chief at District Vetenary Office, Kathmandu, the bird flu outbreak confirmed, on Thursday at Ramkot-based poultry of farm owned by Suman Adhikari, Dev Singh Maharjan’s Kirtipur-based poultry farm and Mahadevsthan of Thankot.[break]



According to him, a rapid response team comprising vet officials and technicians has been sent to the site to cull the bird flu tainted chickens.



Currently the response team is culling some 3000 and 2500 chickens at the farms owned by Adhikari and Maharjan respectively.



A team has also been mobilized to destroy some 25 to 30 local chickens infected with bird flu at Mahadevstan area of Thankot VDC.
