According to the Canadian government, campus lecturers, accountants, health managers, construction managers, among others, will not be allowed to apply for green card.

The amended law that came into effect from June 26 says social workers, business promoters, dentists, pharmacists, among others, are eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

According to Canadian migration consultant Milan Karki, the number of Nepali immigrants to Canada has increased in the last one year.

“Even the reputed professionals working in Nepal are attracted by the Canadian green card,” Karki said. “However, Nepali immigrants in Canada are not getting good opportunities due to the lack of command over English language, skills and poor educational background.”

Everest immigration and Legal Services Canada are holding a nation wide conference about the immigration process to Canada starting July 3. The conferences to be held in various parts of the country, including Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Chitwan, Butwal, Dhangadhi and Pokhara, would highlight legal provisions, process and other issues.
