POKHARA: Students of Janapriya Bahumukhi Campus in Pokhara ransacked and set on fire the office of the campus chief Sunday morning accusing the campus administration of being indifferent to their demands.
Police Inspector Sudhir Raj Shahi said a group of students vandalized the office of campus chief Sabita Baidhya and set the office on fire, damaging documents and furniture. They also smeared soot on the face of the campus chief.
The students said they resorted to this measure as the seven-day ultimatum served to the campus administration to meet their demands has expired. The students are demanding the setting up of a library, provision of sports equipment and permission to establish a Free Students Union.
During the incident, there were also clashes between members of Nepal Students Union (NSU) and All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU). The ANNFSU said four of its members were injured after being attacked by NSU members with khukuri knives.
