CA polls date postponement is a mere imagination: Bhattarai

NAGAR, Nov 5: UCPN (Maoist) leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that there was no truth about the postponement of the n November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) election.



Talking to media persons in Biratnagar this evening, Dr Bhattarai said that stopping the CA election would be an insult to the sacrifices and contributions made by martyrs for the same. [break]



The former Prime Minister also said that maximum efforts were underway to bring the poll-opposing alliance of 33 parties including of CPN-Maoist on board but added that none can stop if a force moves ahead to boycott the polls.



He also said that the remaining 26 seats could be given to the CPN-Maoist based on partisan consensus if the CPN-Maoist agrees for the same.



The UCPN (Maoist) leader said that his party would garner two-thirds majority for being in favor of progressive change and added new constitution would be promulgated within a year under his party´s leadership.



Saying that the entire country has jumped into the election process, he said the proposed strike by the poll opposing parties would have no impact on the voters, political parties and the voting process.



Dr Bhattarai and top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) are attending the Mechi-Mahakali Election Campaign to kick off tomorrow from Jhapa.
