KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The Constituent Assembly Court on Sunday upheld the victory of Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Rijal in the Constituent Assembly election from Parsa constituency-5.

“There is no sufficient evidence to nullify the defendant’s victory in the election,” Justice Anup Raj Sharma, who headed a three-member Constituent Assembly Court, said in the verdict.

Rijal´s election was questioned at the Supreme Court after his nearest rival from the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) Birendra Prasad Yadav moved the court accusing him of rigging in the election held on April 10, 2008.
