During his meeting with chief whips of various political parties today, Nembang said that country can't afford postponing the CA meeting for indefinite period in the name of seeking consensus."We are asked to find consensus by March 29, 5 pm," Chief Whip of UCPN (Maoist) Giriraj Mani Pokharel, who attended the meeting, said. "I will be compelled to call a CA meeting if the parties failed to strike a deal on contentious issues by March 29," Pokharel quoted Nembang as saying in the meeting today.
The chief whips of eight political parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi Morcha, among others, were present in the meeting.
Earlier, Nembang had given a week-long time to political parties to opt for consensus or procedure for constitution drafting, which expired today. However, the political parties have failed to strike a deal on the issue.
The meeting was called today to discuss the future steps either to follow due process or seek consensus on contentious issues.
