BUSINESS BRIEFS: Bird introduced four new sets

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Gadgets Nepal -- the sole authorized distributor of Bird mobile in Nepal -- has introduced four new handsets in the market. According to a press statement issued on Friday, the company has launched B55 Ostrich, K 300, K3 and K103. "B55 is made of stainless steel and is scratch proof. It is a full multimedia set and has features like dust and water proof, Bluetooth, mp3, mp4, video player, video recording, 2 mega pixels camera, facebook, MSN and Yahoo messenger among others," the statement said, adding that it has received type approval from Nepal Telecom Authority. The K 300 is an Angry Bird model which is available in five different colors. The phone, which comes in angry bird shape, has features like dual-SIM, MP4, MP3, Bluetooth, video recording and video player, among others and supports 4GB external memory. Similarly, both K3 and K103 are multimedia music series model.



NIBL Capital to start DP service



KATHMANDU
: NIBL Capital Markets, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nepal Investment Bank, has received depository membership license from the CDS and Clearing Limited to start services as a depository participant (DP). NIBL Capital, a licensed merchant banker from the Securities Board of Nepal, aims to provide depository participant services to investors through the branch network of its parent company Nepal Investment Bank, according to a statement issued by the company. A depository participant is an intermediary that maintains electronic accounts of securities on behalf of investors and provides services such as the transfer and sale of securities. NIBL Capital Markets will work closely with the CDS and Clearing Limited to dematerialize and convert the current stock of paper shares held by Nepali investors into an electronic format, the statement says. Currently, NIBL Capital renders a comprehensive and a wide range of financial solutions ranging from issue and sales management, securities underwriting and share registration to portfolio management services. Furthermore, NIBL Capital has also applied for a mutual fund license.



Commerz and Trust Bank launches ATM service



KATHMANDU
: Commerz and Trust Bank has opened ATM kiosks at is branch offices in Kalimati and New Road, according to a bank statement. The bank, which is soon launching an initial public offering to raise Rs 600 million, generated an operating profit of Rs 31.9 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. The bank collected deposits of Rs 7.38 billion and extended Rs 6.99 billion in loans in the same period.
