Ashis Sharma fled his kidnappers after nearly six hours in their captivity, police said.
A student of Rajdev Janata Higher Secondary School at Bhrampura-5, Ashis was kidnapped Friday noon. [break]
He was taken in a van to Siraha where the kidnappers stopped for dinner leaving him alone in the van. Ashis managed to escape while they were having dinner, according to Sub-Inspector Kumar Shrestha of Triyuga.
"I was returning home after the classes got over," Ashis was quoted by police as saying. "Three people with long hair arrived in a white Maruti van, threatened to kill me if I made noise, and forced me into the van," Ashis told police.
After driving up to Lahan, all three of them, including the van driver, left to have dinner. When they didn´t return after the passing of half-an-hour, Ashis fled the van and got into a bus without knowing where it was headed. The bus took him to Gaighat, where he approached police, according to Sub-Inspector Karna Basnet.
He told police that he escaped from the jaws of death. Police contacted his grandfather Kusheswar Prasad Sharma who, along with the boy´s uncle Bhisma Prasad Sharma, took custody of the boy on Saturday, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Yadav.
The identities of the kidnappers remain unknown. Police suspect they belong to an armed group, but aren´t sure. Police are on the look out for the kidnappers based on the description provided by Ashis.
