BIRGUNJ, July 23: Defense Minister Bidya Bhandari on Friday said there is no possibility of a Maoist-led government in the present political context.

Bhandari, who reached Simara, Bara, to attend a program in Hetauda, told reporters that her party will not vote for a UCPN (Maoist)-led government.

“UML will not support the Maoists under any condition at present,” she said, adding, “It is better to give continuity to the current left-democratic alliance.”

She opined that the UML´s decision not to support formation of a majority government can be changed.

Indicating that UML may support the Nepali Congress, Bhandari said, “UML will work for strengthening the left-democratic alliance.”

She said the current government can get continuity if new government is not elected. “Any how the state has to move ahead,” she said.

She claimed that the Maoists cannot lead the government until and unless they detach themselves from arms and army.
