He returned the money after media reported about 52 CA members mostly senior leaders of different parties taking the allowance even for the days when they were absent in the CA.
"He returned Rs 4,000 of the 20 days when he was absent in the CA," an officials at the account section of the CA secretariat told myrepublica.com.
Sending a letter Sunday to the account section, Bhattarai requested the officials to provide him his salary amount only after deducting the amount of his absent days. "I request the secretariat to do the arrangement so that CA members like me do not have to face moral questions," he has written in the letter.
No other CA member, however, has followed the suit until Monday, said an officer at the section.
