Chairman Dahal said he forwarded a proposal for changing the Baburam Bhattarai-led government into a national unity one as far as practicable, as the parties have agreed to hold fresh elections. Dahal added that he even floated a proposal on Monday to go for other options if opponent parties disagree to change the present government into a national unity government.
Speaking at a programme organized by the Joint Trade Union Coordination Committee on ´Political Way out and Trade Union Rights´ in the capital on Monday, Dahal said that the parties should go for other options as the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and Madhesi Morcha denied the offer of home, finance and defence ministries respectively to join the present government.
The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman also expressed dissatisfaction over the NC´s lack of seriousness at a time when he proposed the NC for deciding a candidate for the post of prime minister to lead the consensus government.
Dahal also made it clear that he was not in the fray for the post of the prime minister until fresh elections were held.
"Despite my seriousness in the capacity of the chairman of the single largest party, the opposition leaders have forgotten that agreement of prime minister and UCPN (Maoist) Vice-chairman was also needed for a consensus," Dahal added.
The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman also revealed that a consensus had been reached to not give up arms against the authoritarianism even after the 12-point agreement saying that the People´s Movement-II was not totally peaceful.
Also speaking at the same programme, NC President Sushil Koriala urged Dahal to play a leading role to end the deadlock in the capacity of the head of the largest political party.
Dissolution of the constituent assembly unilaterally was a type of political coup guided by the intention of capturing state power.
He also stressed on bringing a full-fledged budget by taking all parties into confidence.
Similarly, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal accused the UCPN (Maoist) and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai of becoming the major reason for the political deadlock.
He claimed that fresh elections under this government were not possible at any cost and added that revival of the disbanded CA was limited to only scholarly discussions.
