Beni-Jomson road reopens

JOMSOM, July 7: The Beni-Jomsom road, the only road to Mustang has opened to traffic following a halt of 20 days Sunday morning. The road remained closed for traffic since June 18 after flood water from the Kaligandai river swept away the road in Bhirkate at Ghar VDC of Myagdi. [break]



It took a week for the Department of Roads to renovate the damaged part of the road and has been temporarily opened for traffic after carrying out a filling in the retaining wall covering 150 meters, said Department´s Engineer Amit Shrestha. Daily life of residents in a dozen VDCs in the northern belt of Myagdi had been affected while food supply to Mustang had come to a halt as a result of the closure of the road.



Nepal, Bhutan trade



BHADRAPUR: Nepal has witnessed trade deficit with an import of more goods from Bhutan as compared to last year during the 11-months of current fiscal year. Nepal exported goods worth Rs 36 million to Bhutan within the end of the current fiscal year 2069/2070 BS while it has imported goods worth Rs 143 million through the Mechi Customs Office, Kakadbhitta. The Office collected Rs 50,488 in revenue exporting the goods while it has collected Rs 32.4 million revenue from the goods imported.
