The campaign is being run to administer vaccine to all children under one year of age to bring down the child mortality rate. [break]
According to the Child Health Division of the Ministry, three percent of the children have not taken vaccination and ten percent leave it in meantime after first vaccination.
Division Chief Dr. Taranath Pokhrel said the campaign was being run with an objective of protecting children from losing life untimely.
He said some 87 percent people are within the access of the service. To reach vaccination to people is still a challenge, said Vaccination Program Chief, Giriraj Subedi, adding it is hard to raise awareness on parents.
In the campaign, volunteers will be sent to each houses and there is a target of reaching the coverage to 90 percent by 2016.
In Nepal, no polio patients have been seen since 2010 and tetanus has been already eliminated. The Ministry had spent Rs.13 billion under the vaccination program last year.
