Banda hits eastern Nepal

ITAHARI, March 13: Normal life in Mechi and Koshi zones has been paralyzed due to a transport strike enforced by workers to protest the murder of a bus driver in Jhapa on Wednesday.

Sher Bahadur Magar of Itahara-3, Morang, was killed by members of a wedding procession when Magar urged them to get off the bus roof.  Hundreds of people have been stranded due to the strike.[break]

However few private vehicles and trucks are seen plying along the roads. Police are also seen escorting a few vehciles.

The protestors have been demanding due compensation to the kin of the deceased driver. The protestors vandalized a microbus in Itahari.
