GULARIYA (Bardiya), April 22: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that a revolution can never be successfully completed in a straightforward way. He argued that his party followed a path full of twists and turns to make it a success.

"Some dogmatists in Nepal insist that the 10-year revolution should have followed a straight course," said Dahal while addressing a mass gathering here Monday. "But that is a very wrong idea." [break]

He argued that had Nepal´s revolution followed a straight path, it would have met a similar fate as the communists in Burma, Malaya and Peru. He suggested to dogmatist communists to study the international communist movements in detail.

He claimed that the revolution proposed by Mohan Baidya, who broke away from the UCPN (Maoist) to form the CPN-Maoist party, would be limited to books. "The revolution to be led by Baidyaji will be confined to books and won´t touch the lives of the people´," he said. "If they try to lead a revolution, they will face the fate of the communists in Burma, Malaya and Peru."

He said that he is planning to run the party in a new way in the days to come.

Describing his recent China visit as a great success, Dahal informed that he was planning to visit India next week.

In a separate context, he claimed that the CPN-UML party was no longer in existence in Nepali politics. "The CPN-UML politburo decision to ally with the Nepali Congress indicates the party´s dissolution," he said. "UCPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress will remain the only two major political forces in the days to come."
