Badi women stage sit - in

DHANGADHI, Feb. 24: The Badi Rights Struggle Committee has been staging sit-in in front of the Kailali District Administration Office for the last one month, demanding the rehabilitation of Badi women and a favorable environment to quit their profession of flesh trade.



Arjun Badi, a member of the Badi community, said this was the first phase of their protest program to exert pressure to the government to fulfill the three-point agreement signed with the government in the past. [break]



Chairperson of the Struggling Committee Uma Devi Badi said that they were forced to stage protest programs after the government failed to address their demands though only few programs were launched from the Women Development Office.



She warned of stern action if the committee´s demands were not met.
