Australia to double assistance to Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 10: Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has said that Australia would double its development assistance to Nepal. During his telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal Thursday evening.



 Rudd congratulated Khanal for being elected as the top executive of the country and expressed confidence that the relations between Australia and Nepal would strengthen during his tenure. [break]



According to the prime minister´s foreign relations advisor Milan Tuladhar, Rudd also expressed confidence that Prime Minister Khanal would be able to deliver peace and the new constitution on time.



“The prime minister has given him invitation to visit Nepal. Rudd is likely to visit Nepal soon,” said Tuladhar. On the occasion, Rudd on behalf of Australian prime minister also extended invitation to Prime Minister Khanal to visit Australia at the time of his convenience.
