Article 19 welcomes arrest of suspected murderer of Uma Singh

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Executive director of Article 19, Dr Agnes Callamard, has welcomed recent arrest of a suspected murderer of Janakpur-based Nepali journalist, Uma Singh.



Nepal police had arrested a suspected murderer of Singh few days ago. Singh was killed in her Janakpur-based home in 2009. Police on Wednesday made a formal announcement regarding arrest of one of the murderers. [break]



“We welcome today’s announcement of the arrest of a suspected murderer of the Nepali radio journalist, Uma Singh, who was attacked in her home in 2009 and brutally stabbed to death by 12 men,” reads a statement issued by Dr Callamard on Wednesday.
