According to Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the arrival from the South Asian region recorded a growth of 4.9 percent, despite arrivals from India and Sri Lanka going down. [break]
Arrivals from India witnessed a soft decline of 2.6 percent, while the number of visitors from Sri Lanka went down by 21.5 percent.
A robust growth of 15.9 percent has been recorded in the arrival from the South Asia region in the first four months of 2010 against the figures of same period last year, a Nepal Tourism Board said in a statement.
China recorded an encouraging growth of 45.3 percent in April. Arrivals from Malaysia and South Korea registered a positive growth of 14.2 percent and 20.3percent respectively.
Arrivals from US and Canada grew by 3 percent and 8.3percent respectively.
However, European markets registered a negative growth of 5.5 percent with major destination showing mixed reaction in terms of visitor arrivals, the statement added.
