SIRAHA, June 17: A man died in an attack by a group of armed dacoits at Rampurabirta VDC-1 of Siraha district Sunday morning. Sanjaya Singh, 35, was fatally hacked as he retaliated against a group of 15-20 dacoits who had entered the village Saturday midnight.
The dacoits broke into Singh´s house and looted property worth more than Rs 600,000.[break]
According to Rajesh Kumar Lal, the chief of Siraha District Police Office, the robbers looted seven tolas of gold, 30 tola of silver jewelry, and Rs 200,000 cash from Singh´s house. Raj Kumar Karki, a police inspector at Area Police Office, Mirchaiya who visited the incident site, informed that there were several khukuri cuts in Singh´s body.
A critically injured Singh was taken to Mirchaiya Hospital, which is only two kilometer away from his home, but he died during treatment due to excessive bleeding, inspector Karki said.
Gokul, the father of the deceased said, "They broke the door of the house at 12:45 am and attacked Sanjaya with khukuri. We could not do anything as they overpowered us. They were after my son."
Inspector Karki said that police learnt about the robbery only after an hour. No one had been arrested till Sunday evening. The incident site is two kilometers away from the Area Police Office.
