APF, Police maintain winning run

KATHMANDU, April 11: Departmental teams -- Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police Club -- maintained their winning steak under the men´s section of the First National Men´s and Women´s Club Volleyball League on Thursday to remain firm on the top two spots.



In the matches played at Dasharath Stadium covered hall, APF defeated University Sports Association to achieve its fourth straight win and move to the top of the table with 12 points. APF registered a comfortable win in straight sets 25-16, 25-14, 25-22.[break]



In course of achieving the third win in a row, Police eased past G-4 Sports Club 25-16, 25-14, 25-22. Police with nine points is in the third position. In another match, another departmental team Nepal Army Club saw off Western Regional Volleyball Club 25-22, 25-19, 25-9.



Under the women´s category, APF strengthened its title bid defeating Western Region 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16. The result puts APF on top of the table with four points, one point behind leader New Diamond Club. Third placed Western Region has three points while Police hits the rock bottom without any point.



Nepal Volleyball Association will provide a motorbike each to the best male and female player of the year on Saturday.



"Based on the performance throughout the year 2069 BS, a best male player will be given a motorbike and female player a scooter," said Jeetendra Bahadur Chand, general secretary of Nepal Volleyball Association.
