Ambulance vandalized, driver injured

ITAHARI, June 30: Two motorcycle-borne unidentified assailants vandalized an ambulance and attacked its driver near Panipiya along the Koshi Highway of Sunsari district on Thursday morning.



The assailants stopped the ambulance (Ko 1 Ja 2717) putting  their motorbike across on the road and attacked the ambulance and driver Binod Poudel before fleeing the scene, informed police sub inspector Hari Prasai of the Hansposa police post. Poudel has sustained injuries in the attack.[break]



The ambunace was on the way back after ferrying a patient to the BP Memorial Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. They also took away Rs 4,000 from the ambulance driver, who has been receiving treatment at a local health facility in Itahari.



The motive behind the attack is not immediately known. Police are investigating the incident.
